C.O.P. Cookies

Let me take you back, oh let's say, 10 years. I was eight and just learning how to bake by myself. My mom loved that I had taken it upon myself to be in charge of baked goods in the house, so she usually always had stuff for me to bake, either from scratch or box.

Well, you know how little kids can't make up their minds about really anything? This was one of those moments.

I had everything I needed for three kinds of cookies; oatmeal, peanut butter, and chocolate chip cookies. I LOVE all three kind, and being a little kid, I decided to combine all three and make a sort of hybrid cookie. Thus became the birth of the Oatmeal Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie, or C.O.P. Cookie.

Yes, I know that someone else had already started making these somewhere else in the world, but let's not burst my 8-year-old genius, okay?

Ingredients
3 c. Brown sugar
1 1/2 c. Margarine or butter
1 tsp. Salt
4 c. Oatmeal
4 Eggs
1 tsp. Vanilla
1 1/2 tsp. Baking soda
2 tsp. Cinnamon
2 1/2 c. Flour
1 bag Chocolate chips (Don't pretend you don't just pour the whole bag in there!)
1 c. Peanut butter (Creamy or crunchy; Amount really depends on how much of a peanut butter flavor you want)

Directions
  1. Preheat oven  to 375.
  2. Mix together brown sugar, margarine/butter, salt, eggs, vanilla, baking soda, cinnamon, and peanut butter.
  3. Mix oatmeal, flour, and chocolate chips into wet ingredient mixture.
  4. Drop by spoon onto greased cookie sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes or until lightly golden.

Review: House of Dark Shadows

House of Dark Shadows
House of Dark Shadows by Robert Liparulo

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Robert Liparulo’s House of Dark Shadows will draw you in and leave you checking your doors for parallel worlds.

When the Kings move into a new home in a new town, the house seems odd a first; but things get really strange when they realize that some of the rooms are portals to other worlds. The Kings face terrifying dangers within the rooms of their home, but it still seems like an adventure until people start coming out of the rooms and into the house. When one of the intruders kidnaps their mother, they must find a way to rescue her, but who would believe such an unbelievable story? The King family begins their search, quickly realizing that they need to learn more about the other worlds to find their mother. While searching for their mother, they also pretend that all is well at home. When a stranger shows up to try to force them to sell the house, their desperation reaches new heights.

I really enjoyed this book and often times couldn’t put it down. I’ll admit the beginning was a little slow for my taste, but then it pulled you in and left you wanting more. This is a great read for teenagers and adults alike.

Review: Artichoke's Heart

Artichoke's Heart
Artichoke's Heart by Suzanne Supplee

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely loved this book. I connected with it so much it was unreal. This is a great book for all young ladies because there is a little bit of something they can relate to throughout the book. Family problems, sick relatives, boy drama, body issues. This book has got it all.

Review: Bleed

Bleed
Bleed by Laurie Faria Stolarz

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Well, I don't really know what to say about this book. Some of it was okay, but some of it was also kind of boring. I feel that some of the characters that got their own chapters really didn't need them. But hey, some people might like this kind of book; different characters telling their own story at the exact same time.

Review: Born to Rock

Born to Rock
Born to Rock by Gordon Korman

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely loved this book. The reader goes on a journey with a young man who thought he had everything figured out and knew exactly who he was, until he found out who his father was. Then he goes on tour and learns even more about himself. Nonstop parties, traveling, paparazzi, and scandals. He even got the girl he thought was weird for so long. Wonderful book for young adults.
